Location: Oxford, Permanent, Full time.

Scancell was founded in 1997 as a spin-out from the University of Nottingham and is developing novel treatments for hard to treat cancers and infectious diseases. It currently employs over forty staff, with research scientists located in Nottingham and some managerial, development and administrative staff in Oxford. The Company has now expanded into new laboratory facilities on the Oxford Science Park, where activities focus on support for the Company’s clinical trial activities, and formulation and analytical development activities for its novel products.

Summary of Post

A unique opportunity for an experienced CRA to join Scancell and gain a depth and breadth of expertise in oncology, immunology and the broader field of biotechnology development. Working within a multidisciplinary team at the cutting-edge of scientific breakthrough, you will act as the primary point of contact for oncologists across the UK and their study teams. You will also ensure the clinical trial is executed at oncology sites to the highest standards.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact for leading oncology investigational teams in the UK
  • Performs site selection, initiation, interim monitoring and close out
  • Leads study start-up and provides local expertise.
  • Perform feasibility, site identification, selection and evaluation, supporting initial list of sites and forecasting of patient recruitment
  • Provides protocol and related study training to study sites
  • Supports Investigator meetings
  • Supports patient recruitment initiatives

Essential requirements

  • Educated to degree level (life or medical science discipline)
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field of clinical research
  • Therapeutics experience in oncology and immunotherapy preferred
  • Excellent team-working skills with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with professionals in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Thorough knowledge of clinical research concepts regarding drug development phases and clinical research methodology
