Scancell is an AIM listed biotech company developing novel immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer and infectious disease, with facilities on the Oxford Science Park and at Nottingham University.

Scancell is currently conducting three early-stage clinical trials of its novel vaccines in cancer and infectious disease. The successful candidates will be integrated into a multidisciplinary team involved in the development of these vaccine platforms as well as its therapeutic antibody portfolio.

The laboratory facilities on the Oxford Science Park focus on Translational Research, support for the Company’s clinical trial activities, and formulation and analytical development activities for its novel products. The Nottingham laboratory’s emphasis is on research while also supporting the Company’s clinical trial activities.

These positions will support Scancell’s clinical trials using immunological assays, which are part of the clinical trial endpoints and will be used to assess the immunological responses to the Company’s vaccines in cancer patients or healthy donors.

The post holder will join the Translational Research group based in Oxford or Nottingham. The position is full time and will allow for flexible working hours to accommodate the arrival of clinical trial samples from the study sites.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform assays on clinical trial samples such as human serum, blood and tissue samples and perform assays in line with the clinical trial study protocols
  • Plan and perform experiments ensuring all the relevant database and paperwork related to the trial samples are filled in.
  • Accurate recording receipt, tracking and storage of clinical trial samples in accordance with the clinical trial protocols. Notifying and recording any deviations from the assay methods or sample receipt.
  • Contribute to or review laboratory documentation, laboratory books, study reports and procedures when required. Keep an up to date and legible laboratory book.
  • To receive deliveries and unpack stock into laboratories.
  • To perform stock checks of consumables, media, solutions, buffers.
  • To prepare and aliquot solutions and buffers as required by the laboratories.

Role requirements:

  • Should have a BSc and a strong practical lab experience within mammalian cell culture.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook.
  • Capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Good time management and organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel within the UK if required
